Gerry Smith and his G&C Home Improvements crew stripped the old shingles and tar paper off before putting down the new ice shield, 30lb. felt and new IKO roof shingles on this Sunrise Blvd. Forked River NJ 08731 home. The old roofing debris is captured in a tarp and moved to a dumpster for proper disposal.
After the roof is stripped the chimney flashing is carefully removed to make way for new flashing. Before G&C starts installing the roof shingles they puts down ice and water shield along the perimeter of the house. This process is done 3ft from the bottom of roof edge as per building code. G&C also puts this barrier in the valley's of the house for extra protection from wind driven rain. The entire roof then receives a layer of 30 lb. felt paper as a vapor barrier before the new IKO roof shingles are installed.
