G&C Home Improvements stripped the old asphalt shingles from the deck of this Neptune NJ ranch style home. The shingles were old and beginning to deteriorate noticeably on the front section of the roof. Once the old shingles and tar paper were removed, Gerry and his crew did a thorough examination of the plywood deck for signs of leaks, rotted wood and general surface quality. This is done to ensure that the new roof shingles are installed on a structurally sound roof deck surface. The next phase of the new shingle installation is to lay down the Carlise WIP100-2S water / ice shield around the entire perimeter.

 

This is done to guarantee that water and ice don’t back up under the shingles in the event of frozen or clogged gutters. New ASTM-15LB Felt paper was then spread across the entire roof as the shingle underlayment. The homeowners selected IKO – AR – Dual Grey shingles that feature a lifetime warranty. Roofing contractors must follow the IKO installation instructions in order to provide the homeowner with a valid warranty.

 

Gerry Smith is a certified roofing installer and always provides the correct installation services to validate the manufactures warranty. This roof job also included new flashing around the chimney and new aluminum 3 in 1 flashing on all vent pipes. All construction debris was carted to an authorized recycle and disposal center by Mehann Carting.
